From child star to celebrated actress, producer, and philanthropist, Kellie Shanygne Williams has established herself as a multifaceted talent in the entertainment industry. Born and raised in Washington, D.C., Kellie began her journey into acting at just four years old. By age six, she landed her first stage role in the regional production Cousins, setting the stage for a lifelong career in the arts. Her training with the Howard University Children’s Theater paved the way for early success in commercials and theater.
Kellie quickly built an impressive list of theater credits, showcasing her talent in productions such as Joe Turner’s Come and Gone, Butterfinger’s Angel, Colored Museum, Goin’ Home, and The Bacchae, where her powerful vocals earned critical acclaim.
Her breakout moment came with a home video audition, filmed by her father, that secured her the iconic role of Laura Winslow on the beloved sitcom Family Matters (1989–1998). The show became a cultural phenomenon, and Kellie’s portrayal of Laura cemented her place in the hearts of audiences nationwide.
Post-Family Matters, Kellie continued to shine on screen and behind the scenes. She starred in the ABC sitcom What About Joan alongside Joan Cusack (2001) and served as a celebrity guest host on Clean House (2009). As a producer, she co-executive produced Blessed and Cursed (2010), Christmas in Carolina (2020), and A Family Matters Christmas (formerly Merry Little Switches), where she also starred. Her performances and contributions to the industry have earned her numerous award nominations and recognition as a dedicated artist and storyteller.
When reflecting on his journey into the production and film business, Ervin Williams credits his early passion for acting as his greatest influence. From a young age, he had the “acting bug,” studying at the Washington Theater Club and Nancy Wheeler’s Actors Stage Studio in Washington, D.C. He also attended Knoxville College and the University of the District of Columbia, gaining a well-rounded education. Although he ultimately chose not to pursue acting professionally, his passion for storytelling led him to discover a new calling behind the camera.
Ervin’s career evolved into managing and guiding local talent, including actors, singers, and musicians. One of his first clients was his own daughter, Kellie Shanygne Williams, who starred in hit sitcoms such as Family Matters and What About Joan. In addition, he managed the careers of R&B groups like Amari (Tommy Boy Records) and Carmen (Atlantic Records), showcasing his knack for nurturing artistic talent.
For over 30 years, Ervin served as President of Kellie William Productions, where he honed his expertise in production and talent management. Later, he founded Nebula City Entertainment, further cementing his role as a visionary in the entertainment industry. In 2017, Ervin and his wife, Peggy, launched Dream Merchant Media Entertainment, a full-service production company. Together, they co-executive produced and directed notable projects, including the comedy-romance Christmas in Carolina (2020), The Forgettable Life of Liam White (2021), Gaslight, and A Family Matters Christmas (formerly Merry Little Switches), released in November 2022.
Even outside the studio, Ervin remains dedicated to his craft, continuously researching industry trends and brainstorming innovative ways to serve his clients. For Ervin, the most rewarding part of his career is witnessing the joy and satisfaction of his clients, knowing that his work has contributed to their success stories. His passion for storytelling, combined with his commitment to helping others, defines his legacy as a leader in the entertainment industry.

Peggy Williams

Peggy Williams is a proud HBCU alumna of Bowie State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism. She also holds an Associate Degree in Mass Communications from Prince George’s Community College. A former performer herself, Peggy transitioned into talent management in 2007, managing national recording artists Amari (Tommy Boy Records) and Carmen (Atlantic Records).
She later took on the role of Project Manager for Kellie Williams Productions, further cementing her presence in the entertainment industry.With over 20 years of experience in the field, Peggy expanded her expertise into film and television production. She created, executive produced, and directed projects such as the hip-hop dance show Turn It Up. She also co-produced and directed the holiday film Christmas in Carolina and executive produced The Forgettable Life of Liam White, both available on ROKU.
Additionally, Peggy created and produced A Family Matters Christmas (formerly Merry Little Switchmas), which was distributed by Vision Films and began streaming domestically on November 8, 2022.Today, Peggy focuses on creating and developing family-friendly content for television and film, continuing her mission to bring heartwarming, inclusive stories to audiences everywhere.
